Twitter to Google Calendar ifttt Alternative

Bummed that ifttt.com twitter triggers no longer work? There is another automation service out there that you can use to backup your tweets (and Facebook posts and so much more) to your Google calendar!  Backing up your tweets to an editorial calendar is a great way to save your tweet history and provide a report to your social media clients of their social media posts.

Zapier.com allows you to create “zaps” similar to ifttt’s recipes.  Head over to their site and register for a free account which will allow you to have up to 5 “zaps” – combinations of triggers and actions.  If you find you need more, the basic plan is $15/month and allows for up to 100 zaps.
Here’s how to automatically post your tweets to Google calendar:
1. From your Zapier dashboard, click creat new Zap:

2.  Drag Twitter to the trigger field and Google calendar to the action:

3. Link your Twitter account and your Google account (you can have multiple which is AWESOME!):
4. Select the calendar from the drop down where you want the Tweets to be added:
5. Drag the fields from the right to the boxes on the left as follows.  You can also add additional info like number of retweets if desired:

6. We’re almost done! Click test and you should see something like this:

Zapier cannot bulk upload your historical posts at this time, so if you’d like any historical posts uploaded, you’ll need to click the send it! button next to the tweet.
7. Click enable and you’re off and running!
Happy tweeting!
